High Life Dubai's adventure at Six Senses Zighy Bay

After High Life Dubai’s hugely impactful and successful tracel episodes in the past, we are back with another travel episode as the travel bug has bit me! This time we are showcasing the luxurious Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman.

Day One:
We started at 10.00 AM in the morning with our transportation partners Lama Tours. Heading to Oman by road was an adventurous and unique experience, as I got to see some amazing mountains.
Six Senses Zighy Bay is located in a secluded bay on Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. The resort is unique and stands apart as it adapts the Omani culture and it resembles the traditional Omani village in many ways. A few to mention, narrow passages between the invidual villas and palm shaded, sandy roads and is an almost car-free environment.
The activities at Six Senses Zighy Bay are phenomenal. They gave me a choice to enter the resort by road or by paragliding, and I thought of taking the adventurous route- paragliding it is! The feeling was absolutely surreal and addictive… the quite solitude as I went down felt like heaven. I recommend all of you to paraglide at least once in your life. (Trust me, it is not as scary as it looks J)
I was welcomed in Zighy Bay style, my butler gave me a hot towel to refresh my energies down. After that I got ready for the archery which I was doing for the first time in my life. Travel is all about getting out of the routine and being spontaneous and living life with a bend.
Archery is a great sport for boosting mental and physical health and fitness, and also other benefits such as improving your patience levels and teaching safety.  With the expert at Six Senses Zighy Bay, I was glad to have learnt the important basics of the sport. I always believe that if you focus on something and put your heart and mind to it, you will achieve it. Finally I got the bulls eye ;)
Six Senses Zighy Bay recently introduced a new activity Abseiling at the Wine Tower. The experts told me that this activity helps you fight your fear for heights. I love to try new things in life, so I went ahead and experienced this.
After all this I was famished and could not wait to have my dinner at the starlight table 300m above sea level. I was seated at the mountaintop enjoying the most peaceful view from above. I was spiled for choice with a variety of delicious offering, appetizers- Falafel doughnut and Seared scallops on Crispy falafel with cucumber, tomato jelly and mint labneh. Main course- two way lamb, lamb fillet, lamb cutlet with carrot hummus, artichoke, Lebanese Green Beans and sweet garlic and the sweet endings were the Arabic sweets- Omani halwa mousse with basil soup, saffron ganache and crystalized basil.
And before I left, I lit their traditional sky lantern which I set free in the sky. I was told that many people come here and make a wish before they light and send it straight to the heavens. Perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Day Two:
What a start of the day, a good breakfast is what I enjoy. We reached for the sunrise one hour earlier and waited for another one hour by the beach for the sun to rise. Realized later that Zighy Bay followed “Zighy time” and everything is 1 hour behind. I get away to the immense grandeur of Six Senses Zighy Bay and relish every bit of my sunrise breakfast on the sandy shores. Totally high life and absolutely loved it!
The Managing Director of this resort visited us during our sunrise breakfast and we interviewed him to know more about Zighy Bay!
Next, I enjoyed yoga in the middle of nowhere at the pavilion. I love fitness and ensure to keep my body fit even when traveling. Zighy Bay has an excellent pavilion where one can indulge in tranquility in the middle of the mountains and peacefully do yoga.
Spa is extremely important as it relieves all your stress muscles and calms your soul and body.  I was pampered with a Thai Silk Facial which is effective for improving the facial skin texture. It uses a traditional natural silk cocoon with Sericin essential protein to firm and tone your skin complex. I also enjoyed a Oriental massage which left me feeling completely harmonized and balanced.
After a relaxing spa, I was famished and enjoyed my meal at the Summer House. Summer House and the Terrace is an ideal place to enjoy a light lunch, tea or flavored drink at any time throughout the day.
I stopped by the wine cellar at the wine tower and met the sommelier there. Was amazed to see the variety of wines. As with all Six Senses properties, a wine cellar that encompasses a selection of some of the world's best received wine varietals and wineries. The Cellar’s selection is compiled bearing in mind the diversity of labels and winemaking styles that exist. The Cellar also hosts regular wine tastings and wine and cheese evenings with our master sommelier; A fun and learning experience. “Haute Couture Wine Dinners” designed for those seeking to explore the secrets of the wine cellar with menu preparations and wine styles matching individual taste buds take the gourmands on a gastronomic journey.
Next, I enjoyed my dinner atop the wine tower. Dining atop the Wine Tower was yet another unforgettable memory. Tailor made to offer you the complete sense of luxury, this dining experience atop the Wine Tower, took place 293 meters above sea level and added the finishing touches to my already memorable day. And my 3 course meal included 4 textures of spiny lobsters, grass fed vamco valley lamb fillet and for desert some chocolate & cookies.
That day we celebrated Team HLD’s cameraman, Abid Ali’s birthday. He was surprised with a delicious chocolate cake. Always feels great to celebrate wherever you go.

Day Three:
For those of you who enjoy fitness even while on holiday, the outdoor jungle gym at Six Senses Zighy Bay is a must-try. After a warm up, I went in for circuit training and monkey bars. Felt great to kick start my day with fitness! Realizing your strengths and weaknesses even after so many years of gym, it felt great.
Next, we were all set for Snorkeling. Love to snorkel and discover the under water world. Snorkeling is the practice of swimming through body of water while being equipped with a diving mask, a shaped tube called the snorkel and usually swim fins. Snorkeling is a popular recreational activity, especially here at Zighy Bay. The primary appeal is the opportunity to observe underwater life in a natural setting without the complicated equipment and training. It appeals to all ages because of how little effort there is, and without the exhaled bubbles of scuba-diving equipment.
Last activity of the day Arab cuisine includes the cuisines from various arab countries in the arab world, from Morocco to Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. Originally, this kind of cooking relied heavily on a diet of dates wheat barley rice and meats with a  heavy emphasis on yoghurt products such as labneh. For a cooking enthusiast like me, It was a delight to spend my afternoon at the Organic Garden at Six Senses Zighy Bay learning the art of Arabic Cooking. Making my favourite Fattoush salad, Falafel sandwich and Samkeh Harra and Um Ali in dessert was a delight. After my cooking session, Chef Ali gifted me a Six Senses cook book which compiles of all the delicious recipes of Chefs around the Six Senses property... yumm!
My adventure at Six Senses Zighy Bay was a delight and I recommend all of you reading this blog to head to the magical journey Zighy Bay. If you reside from Dubai, this beautiful and luxurious resort is only 2 hours away, you can indulge in your dream paradise….

Mauritius- Luxury Global Travel Segment

After 6 amazing destinations, High Life Dubai brings you another luxurious and this time heavenly destination- MAURITIUS. This season we had the magical Kenya and Asia’s most popular destination Thailand. Now we give you a little flavor of this unbelievable scenic beauty on Earth…
High Life Dubai was hosted by the rich Heritage properties. They are one of the best properties in Mauritius and best for any kind of holiday.

Day one:
We reached the airport and were provided transport service by Mautourco.  We started our shoot at the award winning Heritage Le Telfair which won "Best Golf Resort in Mauritius" ahead of other Mauritius hotels at World Travel Awards! Nestled at the heart of 'Domaine de Bel Ombre', on the preserved south coast of Mauritius, one can finally enjoy Mauritius hotels, Heritage Le Telfair, a member of the "Small Luxury Hotels of the World", is exceptional in many ways!
The very first thing we did after reaching the property was have a scrumptious lunch at the Cavendish, which had an atmosphere of colonial times enhanced by beautiful coffered ceiling. Then we took a tour of the luxurious property with Karine, who is the Communication Manager.
The same day we had a lovely chat with the General Manager of the Heritage properties- Mr. Jean Paul Martin, who gave us some vital information about the properties.
We ended our day with another delectable meal at the Annabella’s. I had the grilled catch of the day served with christophina “fricassee” and marinated sprouts. Yummy!!

Day two:
We all were really looking forward to this day as we were going to experience a one of a kind dolphin watching trip.
We went for the dolphin watching trip on a speed boat which was super adventurous and fun too as we saw groups of dolphins performing their ballet with us. The most amazing part about this trip is that one can swim with the dolphins too! Wow!! What a unique experience….
Straight after the fun filled dolphin watching trip, we headed towards the Heritage Golf Club to play some golf and learn some new skills in this heavenly destination. The head professional at the club, Mr. Garrick Barnard taught me some excellent skills which I will always remember when playing golf.
The most interesting part of the Heritage Golf Club was that everyone drove their own golf buggy, which was quite fun and exciting! After the game of golf, we had some delicious Mauritian food and I finally had rice at Mauritius! Mauritian food is a very good mixture of Creole, Chinese, European, African and Indian dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
That day I planned to go for a nice spa treatment at the ‘Seven Colours Spa’  to discover the secrets of colour therapy. I got their “Signature” treatment that is a special creation of Seven Colours. These complete the treatment act on our 7 energy centres all during the same session. With their seven colours massage, I discovered the soft warmth of volcanic stones and the energizing power of semi-precious stones.
How could I resist some sushi’s at the Gin’ja restaurant. Set on a stretch of white sandy beach at the lagoon, servind pan Asian inspired cuisine with a relaxed beach style service and a more elegant and fine dining dinner experience.

Day three:
We were going to check in to the beautiful Villas Valriche/Heritage Villas that day but before that I went to enjoy a delicious Italian meal at the C Beach Club. I had tuna fish with sellfish cappuccino and believe me, it was divine! Best fish I had so far. The C Beach Club is a new lifestyle rendez-vous in the south of Mauritius which aims at being the island’s sea, sand and sun experience by excellence. It is located right on the beachfront and adjacent to the Heritage Le Telfair and the Heritage Awali.
Finally we headed towards the most beautiful and fascinating villas- the Villas Valriche/Heritage Villas. Villas Valriche has been recognised with two international honours at the prestigious Europe & Africa Property Awards 2009 in association with CNBC Arabia, receiving awards for Best Development and Best Golf Development. It was also ranked in the Top 10 Best Luxury Developments in the World (Homes Overseas Magazine) and Best Long Haul Golf Resort (Sunday Times) and has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Marketing Excellence Awards, run by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
We had our very own private villa overlooking the Indian ocean. There are over 22 different Plantation-style villa designs to choose in single and double storey configurations, offering 2 bedroom villas of 250m2 up to 3 or 4 bedroom villas in excess of 400m2. The plots vary in size from 700 m2 to over 2,000 m2 and all have spectacular, uninterrupted panoramic golf course and sea views. No other development on the island offers buyers as much choice and flexibility. And guess what?! one can not only rent these villas but also buy them…
Wow!! It was truly high life… a private pool, private villa, private golf buggy, a gazebo, en-suite bathrooms and on top of all a private butler service. I wanted to have bbq that night, so my butler prepared the most amazing bbq in the most perfect weather.

Day four:
Our fourth day was very adventurous too as we had planned a 4x4 trip in the Frederica Nature Reserve and a pic-nic chic in the nature reserve too.
We started our day by having breakfast at the Le Chateau which is a French cuisine. It is a dine in colonial grandeur and ambience reminiscent of old Mauritius in the heart of Domaine de Bel Ombre. It was a perfect breakfast in magnificent surroundings.
Within the Bel Ombre estate, adjoining the Black River Gorges National Park and extending from sea level to 400 meters altitude, the 'Frederica' Reserve is home to abundant endemic plants, birds and animals unique to Mauritius and benefits from the expertise and guidance of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. We observed many treasures in the nature reserve, spread over 3,500 acres.
We were fascinated to discover the ruins of a traditional factory chimney from the early days of Mauritius' sugar estates and enchanted to see infinite plains as well as rich, fertile forests where a spectacular waterfall cascades in.
To explore this amazing area, one can choose among guided excursions (available twice daily, weather permitting), walks, mountain bike rides, double seat quad bikes or 4x4 Land Rover rides at a charge. And the Heritage properties organized a very special pic-nic chic only for High Life Dubai! In the middle of nowhere we had such an amazing time at the picnic. An experience one can never forget.
This excursion is a must if you ever visit Domaine de bel Ombre.
Last that day we had a chat with the Executive Chef of Heritage properties, Mr. Enrico Rodati at our private villa. He told us so much about the specialties of the cuisines available at the properties and the real Mauritian cuisine.
Finally it was time to say goodbye to this destination, which we all will truly miss. High Life Dubai had a picnic putting this show together for you… if you have missed watching this episode, you can watch it on our very own Youtube channel www.youtube.com/highlifedubai and also watch the fun, the masti and the madness that goes on behind the scenes on High Life Dubai only on our Facebook fan page www.facebook.com/highlifedubai.ae
This was a very exciting but hectic shoot. A special thank you to Jessica Hudson, Xperienz Holidays, Heritage Properties and Mautourco for making this trip so memorable. It was great to be surrounded by real nature and such heavenly atmosphere.
Ciao my friends…

Love,
Uma

La Prairie-Cellular Power Infusion

Have you ever wished to look 10 years younger? Now you can! la prairie has introduced a new product at their shelf which will help you look just that.
La Prairie is a product from Switzerland which help prolong the youthful appearance of even the most delicate skin. We found out about La Prairie's latest product- Cellular Power Infusion, which is the most brilliant scientific achievement to date. It utilizes a unique three-dimensional age defiance system to restore the skin- at any stage of the aging process- to a more youthful state.
Its threefold action secures the cellular energy supply and protects it from the effects of external stress, supports the skin's own renewal mechanisms and supplements its natural structural rebuilding.

We were taken aback when we found out about this magical product that says "Never look your age again!", so we interviewed Dr. Sven Gohla who is the Vice President Research and Development for La Prairie to know some more details about this product. He told us in the interview that "The significance of Cellular Power Infusion lies in the development of a radical three-pronged approach that simultaneously treats the key factors that contribute to skin aging; loss of energy, handicapped functionality of skin cells and a general weakening of skin tissues". He also added that "This important breakthrough is at the forefront of cellular communication, for long the core of La Prairie's scientific research. It enabled us to produce a truly game-changing skin treatment that dramatically slows down the aging process by striking at every aspect of the skin's makeup."

The most interesting thing about this product is that you don't have to apply it every single day like a cream, just apply it once in three months and your skin will look as fresh as it was 10 years ago.

Want to try this product? High Life Dubai is giving 3 lucky winners a chance to win this wonderful product only on High Life Dubai Season 7. Keep watching the show to get more updates on how to win.

You may take a look at some of the pictures from the La Prairie event on our Facebook page:

High Life Dubai's Luxury Global Travel Segment in Thailand

Swadicah everyone!!!!! I am back from another fun filled exotic destination- THAILAND. Like always High Life Dubai keeps its promises and every 2 months bring you the best.. not only of Dubai but also of destinations around the world. I love Thailand and I really wanted to bring the best of Thailand for all of you.

Day One:
I started my very first day of High Life Dubai’s Luxury Global Travel Segment with Koh Samui. I have been there more than 3 times now and simply love the island…so I really wanted to show this to all of you. The property I stayed in was the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui.  The Spacious Thai villas are wrapped in tropical gardens, conserved coconut groves and the amphitheatre of sky, sea and islands. Enjoying the forest spa. Dining at hillcrest or beachside. Splash in the private bay. And explore a pristine world of beaches, reefs, rainforest and sunshine. Revel in the many faces of Thailand. So many facilities in a completely different environment. Totally High Life! That day I went for rejuvenating aroma special Siam Fusion spa treatment. My tired muscles relaxed completely due to the 6 hour flight from Dubai to Bangkok to Koh Samui. The spa made me hungry and I relished my dinner with some delicious Thai curries at Lan Tania, my meal:  Larb Tuna - fresh tuna marinated with thai herbs, cracked rice and chili powder , Paneang Goong- red curry of prawns with coconut and lime leaves , Gaeng Kiew Warn - prawns green curry, eggplant with sweet basil and lime leaves. Yummy!!! I reckon each one of you should go and enjoy these Thai curries.

Day Two:
This day was filled with activities such as coconut patanque, kayaking, ping- pong and so much more!! Played coconut patanque for the first time and the rules are simple: The goal of pétanque, a variation of boule, is to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball, except at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, they use coconuts! How interesting and a lot of fun too!! I suggest everyone to play these activities everyday… they are such great stress busters! Can you believe it, having all these activities at the resort itself and enjoying them with full swing by the beach? J That day I had a scrumptious lunch at the Pla Pla-  and being a true Bengali I had the Grilled Mackerel …honestly it was the world’s most delicious mackerel. Given a choice, I can have fish everyday… After lunch I met the General Manager of the Resort- Mr. Brent J. Martin and it was lovely speaking to him and having him on the show. The resort also offered a very luxurious activity, having a manicure by the beach at the beach bar  with your choice of drink. Absolutely high life. Then I headed towards a boat ride which took me away from the hustle bustle and it was a ride filled with tranquility. Cool wind blowing on me with cold sprinkles of water. Unfortunately, it was my last day at Koh Samui so I thought of going to the Chaweng street for some shopping with my team.

Day Three:
Had an amazing time at Koh Samui and will never forget my stay at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Now was time for the most buzzing city of Thailand- Bangkok.
We reached the Bangkok airport and headed to the Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok. I just loved the interior of this hotel, it was so royal and rich, with the perfect colours around. And if you are in Bangkok, one must experience the spa, so I went to the MSpa at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok. The Spa by MSpa delivers memorable spa experiences in state-of-the-art facilities. The treatment rooms and suites and full-service beauty salon are all designed for comfort and the ultimate in sensory experience. The spa’s traditional Thai architecture evokes spiritual tranquility and a feeling of harmony with nature. It was indeed a memorable experience.. I was famished after that so I went to have a hot and crispy cheesy pizza at the Biscotti Restaurant.. and it was delicious!!!! After a while I went for my high tea at the lobby and enjoyed my English Breakfast tea with some cookies and pastries. Why not shop at the Hotel after eating and relaxing? I went to the most exclusive shops at the hotel, such as “Jim Thompson”, “Private Collection”, “Lamont” “Lotus Arts De Vivre” and so many more shops. That day I enjoyed my Thai Curries at the Spice Market-Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok. It is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in the world. It was our cameraman, Abid’s birthday so we surprised him with a delicious cake. Our first day at Bangkok went on very well… and I just kept looking forward to the days coming up.

Day Four:
Guess who I met today…a very good friend, super talented and a very down to earth VJ-MTV Asia/Actress/Model Sonia Couling on the sets of a Hollywood film. She was such a sweetheart, and I got to chat with her and have her on High Life Dubai.  Its always good to meet local talent so on that same day I also met up with a Thai local designer Roj from Issue. He had the most innovative designs, and like always I love to explore local designers around the world and show their designs to you.  Along with meeting the local talent, I also met the Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Mr. Avi Haksar. It was a pleasure meeting him and knowing so much more about the property.

Day Five:
I strongly believe in Buddhism and on this day we took a tour to the beautiful Buddha temples in Bangkok. We first went to the Wat Poh Temple where there is a HUGE sleeping Buddha. His body is covered in gold plating and he is decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay on his eyes and the soles of his feet. The bottoms of the Buddha's feet are intricately decorated with 108 auspicious scenes in Chinese and Indian styles. It was impressive! After that we went to the Arun Temple from a small boat… what a ride it was. I can never forget my visit to the Arun temple as it had so many steps to climb up..one can easily climb up to the maximum height but while coming down, it’s a real challenge! The famous Wat Arun, perhaps better known as the Temple of the Dawn, is one of the best known landmarks and one of the most published images of Bangkok. It consists of a massive elongated prang (Khmer-style tower), and is surrounded by four smaller prangs. The prang is described by the Tourism Authority of Thailand as 104m high, while most other sources quote figures around 80-85m. The temple visits were energizing, which made me want to shop more..and to the most popular malls of Bangkok- Siam Paragon & Gayrson Shopping Centre. Gayrson had the most stylish shopping in Bangkok, it is known for its luxurious and high end stores. I just entered the mall and just could not stop shopping, from shoes to bags to clothes to sunglasses, I grabbed them all. One of my favourite purchase was the Kwanpen Handmade bag. Straight after that, I went for some more shopping to the Siam Paragon. I really liked the collection of Fly Now so I thought of going to the store and meeting the designer too… well I got to chat with him and have him on the show, isn’t that cool? It always feels good to have local designers sharing their views and ideas on fashion. Then we all went back to the hotel and caught up with another local jewellery designer- Mr. Rolf von Buren from Lotus Arts De Vivre. He has incredible and mind blowing jewellery designs and home furnishings. I simply fell in love with them all. Lotus Arts de Vivre creates lifestyle and exquisite objects d'art using tradition of artistry and craftsmanship tools, techniques and skills. He creates designs for the royals and celebrities like far to the UK Prince Charles, Prince Harry, Queen of Spain, near to Thailand and Malaysia, Bhutan’s royal dignitaries, and loved jewelry star, Michelle Yeoh, Elizabeth Taylor, Sharon Stone,  are fans of Lotus Arts de Vivre. Michael Jackson too wore Lotus Arts De Vivre along with many Hollywood celebrities. That was truly amazing to know and feels great to have so much local talent on High Life Dubai J Just kept getting inquisitive for many more days to come.

Day Six:
We moved out from Four Season Hotel in Bangkok with pleasant memories which I can never forget. Headed to check in at lebua at State Tower, which is an all-suite luxury hotel in Bangkok with 358 lavish suites, which are the most spacious in their category. Located at the riverside in the second tallest tower in Bangkok, each suite offers majestic views of the Chao Phraya River and the City. The suites feature amenities, 330 thread count linen, Bvlgari products and in-suite cooking option by its Conde Nast accredited Chefs which make lebua a truly unique luxury hotel. My executive suite at Lebua had a spa room inside, and everything one needs in a suite… it really felt like my own house and I could stay in the relaxing 63rd floor forever! I was enjoying the view of the entire city too from my very own suite…what more does one want?? . Immediately I called up the spa to send someone to my private spa room and I got a nice hot oil massage done to relax my tired muscles before shooting. Soon after that we shot Lebua and took a round at the State Tower.  After that we all went to Hyde & Seek Gastro Bar to meet the people behind the buzzing and popular bar in town… The trios of Swedes behind Flow have combined their mixing skills with innovative eats to create a playful new venue. the three Swedes have teamed up with celebrity chef and kitchen consultant Ian Kittichai and executive chef Peter Pitakwong to create a playful new addition to Bangkok's dining scene -- Hyde & Seek. It was great meeting Dannie Sorum (Executive Director), Ben David Sorun (Managing Director), Thomas Anostam (Executive Director) and the celebrity chef Peter Pitakwong- (Executive Chef at Hyde & Seek). Enjoyed their delicious food and refreshing mocktails. We finally went for fine dining at Lebua, Breeze Restaurant. It was a 5 course special meal arranged by the chef of the restaurant for the entire High Life Dubai team… had a great time there.

Day Seven:
The next person on the list for an interview was this young promising girl, who is in Thailand's top 40 richest peoples list provided by Forbes and the magazine lists heras one of the next generation billionaires. She is charming, sweet, extremely talented which shows in her 2 fashion labels Nsha & Burn Baby and most amazingly she also has her own private pilots license. . I met and interviewed…Nishita Shah! Brilliant!! Simply brilliant and totally high life to have her on the show. It was our last day at Bangkok and we thoroughly enjoyed it by meeting such great people. There after we all headed to the LAST shoot of the day at the Sky Bar, Lebua At State Tower. The stunning, multi-hued Sky bar at Sirocco has several reasons to turn minutes into timeless moments. Suspended in the sky on the 63rd floor of The Dome at State Tower, the Skybar is one of the world's highest open-air bars, overlooking a panoramic view of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya river. With such an enthralling ambience coupled with a seductive selection of the finest vintages, beverages and appetizers in Bangkok, the Skybar soars as one of the prized destinations in the city. No wonder, the rooftop bar is unanimously accepted as the coolest bar in Bangkok. Filming at the sky bar is prohibited except Hollywood films, (Hangover 2 was shot there) but High Life Dubai was welcomed by the entire team of Lebua with a lot of enthusiasm. J

Wow…. I don’t know how these seven days flew by. It felt like seven hours… well I want each one of you to go and experience Thailand High Life Dubai style. I promise all of you to come back with more and more travel segments with lots more fun, excitement and adventure.
Sawasdee everyone and keep living the high life with me.

Love,
Uma
